Sailing

We are incredibly lucky to have fantastic opportunities for sailing at Rydal Penrhos, with the sea on our doorstep, and we are one of very few schools able to teach sailing as part of the school curriculum. From Year 3 upwards, pupils are given the opportunity to try out sailing in Colwyn Bay, using the school’s dinghies. For those who love the experience, the school offers the chance to sail after school, at weekends, and to take part in fixtures.

We have a well-resourced department with new rescue boats, and a fleet of dinghies appropriate for all abilities including Optibats, Teras, Picos, Toppers, Fevas and RS500s. We also offer storage, support and transport for those pupils who have their own boats.

During the season, sailors may train several times a week under the watchful eyes of our experienced and highly-qualified coaches, including a national squad coach. Sailing offers an opportunity for pupils of all ages to work together, from both Prep and senior schools.
