The Ferguson Centre is the name given to the dedicated Sixth form centre at the school. This is a lovely large open plan space which boasts some of the best views overlooking the old school buildings and out to sea. The purpose of this Sixth form centre is two-fold. Firstly, it provides a café style area in which to meet during free time and socialise. There is a very large sofa area, for relaxing and reading, listening to music, playing on the ever popular table football and a large screen projector for watching films. Secondly, there is a well equipped supervised study area for use during study periods. This also forms the base for the Head of Sixth form, Mr John Matthews.
The Ferguson Centre is well used on a day-to-day basis, and also forms the hub of some key charity fundraising events run by the Sixth form, such as the recently held ‘Borneo expedition Table Top Sale”. It is also used for Sixth form social evenings, competitions, leadership and management courses and the Sixth form lecture series. Parents and teachers also get together in the centre for both academic updates and lectures, as well as essential social events including drinks receptions and music and drama evenings.
