Rydal Penrhos Community
Scholarships & Fee Assistance

The school offers scholarships to pupils who show outstanding talent in various fields: academic, art, drama, music and sport. Pupils may apply for scholarships at entry into Year 7, Year 9 and the Sixth form. Scholarship awards are determined by the Entrance examinations, scholarship exams, an interview with the Head or member of the Senior Management Team and, where appropriate, a practical assessment in school of the candidate’s proficiency in his or her chosen area.

Scholarships are normally awarded for the duration of the pupil’s school career, on condition that the pupil remains a committed and positive member of the school community, and actively contributes to the school’s academic or co-curricular life.

Applications for scholarships into Year 7 are accepted from new pupils and pupils from Rydal Penrhos Prep School, and at Year 9 and Sixth form from pupils new to the school.

      Bursaries

Rydal Penrhos is committed to broadening access to the school by offering bursary awards to eligible families. A bursary is a reduction in fees based on an assessment of the merit of the pupil and the financial circumstances of the family.

      • Bursaries are available to pupils who are offered a scholarship but whose parents may need additional funding to enable their child to join the school.
      • Bursaries may also be available to pupils who do not win a scholarship but who the school considers will make a significant contribution to boarding life at Rydal Penrhos.

Applicants for a bursary in any Senior school year group are subject to the standard assessment criteria that form part of the entrance and scholarship process. Bursaries are means-tested and, in accordance with the Charities Commission guidelines, are assessed following the completion of a confidential statement of financial circumstances. All bursary awards are subject to annual means-testing thereafter.

For further details about bursaries, please contact Mrs Jenny Marsden jmarsden@rydalpenrhos.com +44 (0)1492 530155.
