Number of Day pupils: 364
Rydal Penrhos School has a mixed population of day pupils and pupils who board. Day pupils are those who live in the locality and who are able to return home in the evening.
Rydal Penrhos has approximately 364 day pupils. Every pupil is a member of a competitive house and if applicable is connected to a boarding house for competitions. Some pupils from the local area choose to board.
The school day is a full working day, which balances academic rigour with sporting opportunities and the large variety of clubs and societies available. Prep School finishes between 3.30pm and 4.10pm. Senior School finishes at 5.10pm (4.30pm on Fridays) in order to allow sufficient time for pupils to gain full benefit from everything the school has to offer.
We have a useful and very reliable transport service that collects pupils from home in the morning and takes them back when school ends. However, for many pupils, school does not end at the bell, and a large number take part in extra-curricular activities after school.
A number of day pupils also choose to board on a flexible basis to enable them to take advantage of the school facilities in the evenings and at weekends.
Senior school pupils often join boarders for the popular Weekend Activities Programme. Activities have included trips to Alton Towers, X-Factor style competitions, kayaking adventures, white water rafting, inter-house competitions, extra sport, city visits, art workshops and skiing trips.
