On Saturday 25 September the sailing team travelled down to Pwllheli for the weekend to sail in th Volvo Welsh Youth and Junior Championships. The weather was fantastic, with lots of sunshine. There were strong winds on Saturday and a much more gentle breeze on Sunday.Harry Ormerod, Nicholas Bellamy, Henry Salisbury and James Fulker were all sailing in the Laser class. Competition was fierce in the class. Four long races were raced on Saturday; two on Sunday. After the six races the highest place was achieved by Harry in 18th, with the others close behind him.
Tom Warrington and Marinus Kolbinger sailed in the General Handicap fleet. This was the first time Marinus had ever sailed an RS500. Tom and mariuns worked hard out on the water and completed every race despite numerous capsizes on Saturday. After six races they achieved 2nd overall in the general handicap fleet.
Brad Farrell and Harry Pulford from the Prep school enetered the On Board regatta fleet. They sailed a smaller course inshore and had some coaching on Saturday morning. Brad sailed well and achieved some first places. After seven race races achieved a second place in the Topper fleet. Harry Pulford achieved 3rd in the Optimist fleet.
Well done to all the team for their excellent efforts out on the water.
