Duke of Edinburgh weekend camp
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award group completed a successful weekend camp, in spite of the adverse weather conditions. On Saturday 18 September, the group navigated their way to the top of Cnicht, with its peak very reminisicent of the Matterhorn. Descending down the mountain, the weather closed in and it rained cats and dogs, but everyone stayed positive even in the slippery conditions. Back at the campsite, the rain continued to be heavy while the tents were being put up and then throughout our meal. The wet weather showed no signs of abating and was torrential throughout the night, keeping most of us awake, not to mention the dance music festival taking place on the adjoining campsite!
The following morning showed a flooded campsite, but spirits were high and, commendably, there were no complaints. The same weather conditions and high spirits were evident at the Junior Camp and the Sixth form climb up Snowdon. Thank you to all members of staff involved in the trips.
