Fencing coaching is provided as an option during co-curricular sessions, and it has seen a great deal of interest since its introduction.
There are three forms of modern fencing, each using a different style of weapon and different rules, and as such the sport is divided into three competitive scenes: foil, épée, and sabre. Most competitive fencers choose to specialise in only one weapon.
As one might expect many pupils are novice to fencing but they receive expert, specialist tuition on all the skills required to prepare them for friendly competitions against other independent schools.
Fencing classes are always very well supported, with a large number attending the sessions from all age groups and there are many who take part socially without entering competition.
