Rydal Penrhos scholarships and bursaries
Please note: bursaries and scholarships are only eligible for pupils new to the senior school.
The school offers scholarship and bursary awards for entry into Year 7, Year 9 and the Sixth form. These are determined by the entrance examination, scholarship exam (academic ability awards only), an interview with the Headmaster and, where appropriate, a practical assessment of the candidate’s proficiency in his or her chosen area:
- Academic ability
- Art
- Drama
- Music
- Sport
The closing date for bursary and scholarship applications has now passed for September 2013 entry, but late applications for full fee paying places can still be considered.

Two fully-funded day places for Year 7 pupils demonstrating outstanding academic talent
The school also offers two fully-funded (100% of school fees), means-tested day places for local children of high academic ability. Please note: a fully-funded day place is available only to pupils joining at Year 7. To be eligible for these awards, the family and child must reside in North Wales at the time of application and provide evidence in support of this. The family’s combined income must not exceed £30 000 upon application.
Forces disounts
Forces bursaries are available on application for boarding, and the school is also eligible for the North Wales Day Allowance. Services families at RAF Valley who are presently sending their children to the school would be happy to talk to prospective parents and children about their experiences.
