Academic results
We are one of very few schools which encourages all its pupils to sit Higher Level papers, no matter what set or stream they are in (90% pupils take their GCSE exams at Higher Level). By sitting Foundation Level papers, pupils can only achieve a maximum of a C grade. Instilling academic aspirations in our pupils has obviously been a success, as 91% of our pupils achieved grade A٭ – C at GCSE in summer 2011. Every pupil has access to superb resources, expert staff, learning support where needed, and excellent pastoral care.

At A-level, 85% of our pupils achieved A* – C, and 64% achieved A* – B. These results put the school in the Top 100 Independent Co-ed boarding schools in the UK

For the International Baccalaureate, an increasingly popular choice in the Sixth form, our average point score this year was 32.2. Our top IB score 2011 was 44 out of 45 -the equivalent of six A grades at A-level.

We are in the Top 30 independent IB Schools in the UK, and 25% of our pupils achieved 37 points or more, which puts them among the top 10% in the world.

Sport and extra-curricular

Every week of the academic year, and sometimes outside it (when on sports tours abroad), we have sports fixtures against other schools in all of the major sports.

We sail six times a week in the summer, from our RYA accredited sailing school, and run a power boating course in the winter.

There are 45 clubs and societies every week for pupils to participate in, including things like kayaking, chess, climbing, jewellery design and Model United Nations.

We have pupil trips planned for 2011-2012 to Russia, Borneo, Uganda, Germany, France and America.

Welfare, support, and the next stage in life
We have a pupil to teacher ratio of 1:8 and on average one form tutor for every 12 pupils. We also have small class sizes (maximum 20 at GCSE, 16 in Sixth form).

We have a Wellbeing Centre, a school counsellor, and a health centre.

The school’s “Gifted and Talented” programme caters for those who need challenging, and we provide scholarships in Drama, Art, Music, Sport and Academia and Fully

Funded Day Places for the most talented children academically. The Learning Support specialist team is there for those who need extra help.

97% of our pupils in 2010 went to University. Our pupils go to universities all over the world including Britain, America, Germany, Sweden, France and Hong Kong

83% of pupils in school are British but they hold a world view

51% of pupils in 2010 went to either the famous “Russell Group” universities, Oxbridge or other universities in the top 10.

The school runs a comprehensive programme of one-to-one careers counselling to ensure no student flounders with life changing decisions.
