A talented Performing Artist will be taking the stage in a lead role during a high-profile musical.
Zahra Shamsi, a Year 12 pupil at Rydal Penrhos, will be playing the role of Sour Kangaroo in The Powerplay Musical Theatre Company production of Seussical, which will be held from August 1-3 at the Pavilion Theatre in Rhyl.
The newly appointed Prefect will be looking to add to her growing list of exceptional performances in recent months, with Zahra’s depiction of Éponine Thénardier in the Dramatic Society production of Les Miserables coming in for significant praise.
She has also played a leading role at community events and school concerts thanks to her incredible vocal talent, and Zahra also travelled to France recently with the Mochdre Lionesses football squad for the prestigious Old Girls’ World Cup event.
Amy Fenwick, who runs Powerplay Musical Theatre Company, said: “I am so proud of Zahra.
"She is such a talented young lady and it is a pleasure to teach her every week.”
Seussical explores the world of Dr Seuss, revisiting beloved characters including The Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Mayzie, and JoJo.
Director of Music Pete Williams, added: “Zahra’s exceptional gift from a Performing Arts perspective has been enhanced considerably over the course of the academic year here at Rydal Penrhos, and I am sure this trend is going to continue in her latest challenge with the Powerplay Musical Theatre Company.
“She is nothing short of a privilege to work with, is always looking to improve and has a voice that has to be heard to be believed.”
