A group of Year 9 pupils defied their age to secure some impressive early GCSE results.
The seven successful candidates at Rydal Penrhos received the good news on Thursday, August 23 as results were published nationwide.
Juan Rajagopal was one of the exceptional performers, securing a score of 9 in his Music GCSE examination in accordance with the new grading system, which represents a significant achievement for someone so young.
Another to shine was Gloria Johnson, who was rewarded for her superb application during the academic year with a 9 mark in French.
The talented quartet of Isabel Bateson, Lili Minton Roberts, Cameron Shaw and Sophie Williams all attained A* grades in Welsh (Second Language), with Rhys Seenan sealing an A in the same category to round off the achievements.
This outstanding set of results follow on from the school’s GCSE candidates, who scored 33.9 per cent of all grades at A* (9 and 8), which is the highest on record.
A total of 51.1 per cent of all final marks were A*-A (9-7); the second highest ever percentage at the school, and 28 of all entries scored a nine in accordance with the new grading system.
The number of pupils that achieved A*-C (9-4) grades was 94.4 per cent across the 15 subjects offered at GCSE in addition to the three sciences, English Language, English Literature, Mathematics and Additional Mathematics.
Deputy Head Tim Cashell, said: “For our Year 9 pupils to perform so well and so early in their respective GCSE examinations is a testament to their outstanding dedication to their studies and the support and guidance each of them have received throughout the academic year from our fantastic staff team.
“Hopefully this will be the start of things to come from them in the coming years and everyone at Rydal Penrhos is thrilled with their progress.”
