Year 7 pupils at Rydal Penrhos got the chance to sample a new sport thanks to an ongoing partnership.
The group travelled to North Wales Golf Club in Llandudno earlier this month for their first in a series of introductory sessions which have been implemented to boost participation in the sport and encourage others to continue the rich success of the school’s thriving Academy
During the session, the young hopefuls were given demonstrations on the basics of the game, in addition to vital areas of the game including club grip, putting, stance and swing.
They also got the chance to learn about the short game aspect of the sport under the guidance of Wales Golf 2017 PGA Professional of the Year Robin John Hughes.
Rydal Penrhos’ golf programme has gone from strength-to-strength in recent months, with academy members producing a plethora of regional and national competition success stories thanks to the great work being done by programme co-ordinator Ian Richardson and his dedicated coaching staff.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “It is always great to see our Year 7 pupils taking full advantage of the many opportunities afforded to them here at Rydal Penrhos, and hopefully we have inspired the next generation of Golf Academy stars in the process.
“The Academy has been a source of much celebration during the current academic year, with the programme continuing to progress at a rapid rate thanks to the sterling work of Mr Richardson and each pupil involved.”
