Lower School pupils at Rydal Penrhos took a trip back in time at a special event in the region last week.
The Year 7 contingent made the short trip to Venue Cymru in Llandudno on Thursday, March 28, where they took in the live show entitled Horrible Histories.
Using actors and ground-breaking 3D special effects, these two astounding shows enable historical figures and events to come to life on stage, with Terrible Tudors and Awful Egyptians forming the two parts of the festivities.
From the horrible Henries to the end of evil Elizabeth, the group heard the legends (and the lies!) about the torturing Tudors.
They also discovered more about the fate of Henry VIII’s headless wives and his punch up with the Pope.
Other topics discussed were the Spanish Armada, which sailed into the audience in attendance!
The Awful Egyptian segment was another fascinating element of the show, which ranged from the different Pharaohs to the power of the pyramids.
English and Drama teacher Fiona Earle, who was part of the Rydal Penrhos group in attendance, said: “The Horrible Histories show really brought some of the most significant periods of history to life, and it left our Lower School group with an enormous amount of excitement and keen to learn more about both topics.
“This is a fantastic way for them to engage with each other and discuss what they have witnessed and how it relates to their classroom studies, and trips like this are a great way to enhance their learning in a less formal environment.”
