Three Preparatory School pupils took centre stage to highlight the importance of one of the most significant dates on the Rydal Penrhos calendar.
As part of the school’s annual Founders’ Day celebrations on Friday, September 14, the Year 6 trio of Violet Roberts, Will McLaughlin and Rana Abou-Samra spoke at the weekly Celebration Assembly about the school’s history, its founders’ and how it has developed over time.
They began by informing their schoolmates, parents and staff how Rydal Mount School and Penrhos College were formed, in the late 19th Century, the importance of the school within the community during that time and the eventual merge into Rydal Penrhos in 1995 under the stewardship of Nigel Thorne, Head of Rydal and Chris Allen, Head of Penrhos College.
Will then concluded the brief talk with the significance of Founders’ Day throughout Rydal Penrhos’ Prep and Senior sites, which includes a bumper schedule for the upcoming Founders’ Weekend.
Prep School Head Alison Hind, said: “At Rydal Penrhos we are always looking to the future, but never at the cost of forgetting our past and the solid foundations and ethos the school continues to implement on a daily basis.
“Founders’ Day and Founders’ Weekend is the perfect time to remind each pupil under our care of those that we owe so much to, and hopefully old and young alike got a great deal out of the assembly.”
