Year 6 steal show with Aladdin production

A Preparatory School year group stole the show at their annual production of a legendary Disney tale this week.

The Year 6 group at Rydal Penrhos held their Aladdin Play on Tuesday, June 26 and Wednesday 27 and drew widespread plaudits for a thoroughly entertaining demonstration of their Performing Arts prowess.

There were a host of fantastic individual contributions from the aspiring actors, who have all been working immensely hard in the lead-up to the producing under the expert guidance of staff.

Jonah Craddock gave a polished performance in the lead role of Aladdin, with Isabel Stubbings bringing a sparkle to proceedings during her portrayal of the Genie.

The comedy came from James Gilman (Kassim), Will Rutherford (Omar) and James Mann (Babkak), with Sophie Hall’s passionate performance in the role of Princess Jasmine another notable highlight from the event.

There were plenty of boos from the audience to mark the brilliantly evil effort from Perry Willliams as Jafar, with his partner in crime Ethan Akroyd also shining throughout.

The imposing characterisation of lead guard Razouls Liam Farrell struck fear and wonder into the play, and he ably assisted by his team of Harley Doyle, Telor Jones and Matthew Johnson.

Harrison McKinnel and Philo Rozek performed excellently as the Sultan and Stall Owner, with Max Cowen-Wright (Prince Abdullah), Elise Mazars (Fortune Teller), Ella Northcott (Isir), Cerys Williams (Raja), Isabella Peevor (Manal), Jake McDonald (Apple Vendor), together with Jasmin Beckett-Donald, Henry Hibbert, Harry Fardoe and Aidan Van Rooyen (Beggars) also contributing significantly to the overall success of the showcase.

The play was supported exceptionally by the staff team of Peter Williams, Richard Davies, Jamie McLeod, Emma McDuff, Clare Chamberlain, Suzy Morris and Anna George, who were on hand to lend advice, construct the set and manage the performance on the night.
