Year 5 pupils at Rydal Penrhos got the chance to sample Senior School life at a special event this week.
The group, together with a number of external prospective pupils, took part in a Familiarisation Morning on Wednesday, June 20 and participated in a variety of different activities throughout their visit.
They began with a special Treasure Hunt around prominent landmarks across Rydal Penrhos’ senior site, where they worked with members of the school’s new Prefect team to solve clues devised by Head of Mathematics Rhian Williams.
This was followed by a Drama session with enthusiastic teacher Ben Richards, where the group took on the theme of their first day at Senior School for tasks including acting and imaginary photographs.
The session concluded with a group creating some tasty spiced biscuits in the Food Studies area under the watchful eye of department head Laura Gardener, with Assistant Head of Middle School Paul Sanders leading another group in a series of different activities based on Business and Enterprise.
Deputy Head Alison Hind, said: “This is always a very worthwhile event for our Year 5 group, who will begin thinking about making the transition to Senior School life this summer ahead of their final year in a Primary and Preparatory environment.
“Hopefully they got a lot out of the morning and I know that our dedicated staff at Rydal Penrhos kept them entertained throughout, and also provided a very warm welcome to make them feel at ease.”
