A small group of Sixth Form pupils at Rydal Penrhos got the chance to explore their further education options thanks to a specially arranged visit.
Head Boy Nick Fiorita, Will Crumb, Alexia Radu and Artem Filminov was part of the four-pupil team that made the journey to Oxford and Warwick Universities last week to get a first-hand look at the impressive facilities over a two-day period.
During their stay the group were given a tour of St Peters College with a current third-year student, who was joined by a schools’ liaison officer, before joining an admissions tutor at the site for an informal discussion where they had the opportunity to explore the registration process and overall life in the area in more detail.
The pupils also visited Balliol, St Catherines, Merton and Corpus Christi to round off a busy first day at one of the most prestigious further education establishments anywhere in the world.
A trip to Warwick University took place the following day, which let them view a more modern campus and examine the differences between the two venues.
This is the latest in a series of events put on throughout the term as the Lower Sixth begin their application process, with Rydal Penrhos’ staff also organising a trip to the UCAS Exhibition in Liverpool and holding their annual Higher Education Prep Day.
Head of Sixth Form Pete Lavery, said: “This was another very worthwhile experience for the four Year 12 pupils involved, and thanks as always go to our dedicated Head of Careers Mr Farnell for organising the visits.”
