Rydal Penrhos Community
Wrap-around Care

Rydal Penrhos Prep School offers a wide range of pre, after and holiday care for pupils throughout the year.

During term time the school is open from 8am for parents who wish to drop their child off a little bit earlier ahead of the scheduled start time of 8.30am.

      After school care

There is also an after school service that is open until 6pm. The Nursery department is the setting for pupils in Nursery-Year 2.

There is no charge for this service, although an afternoon tea is provided if required, which consists of sandwiches, fruit, cake and a drink, which comes at a small cost.

An excellent programme of recreational activities is available during the day and after school. This provides pupils with every opportunity to grow into interesting, confident, multi-talented individuals with a strong sense of achievement and a valuable appreciation of community.

Some of the extra-curricular clubs available include:

      • Art
      • Board games
      • Craft Club
      • Ballet
      • Zumba
      • Computer Club
      • Cookery
      • Bug Hunting
      • Football
      • Gym
      • Tennis
      • Skiing
      • Story Telling

Most clubs take place after school at 3.45pm and some during break times. The timetable of clubs is dependent upon the time of year, numbers of pupils involved and the facilities available. Parents and pupils are issued with a timetable of clubs soon after the beginning of the school year.

      Holiday Play Scheme

The holiday play scheme is open during the school holidays closing only for a few days over the Christmas holiday. It provides an extensive programme of activities which the children can experience, and helps assist them with their emotional, physical, social, intellectual, language and creative development. But of course, they don’t realise all this: for them it is just good fun!

The play-scheme is open for all Rydal Penrhos Prep pupils from the Nursery department through to Year 6.

We vary the activities throughout the day to retain your child’s interest. Outdoor play and sports activities are included most days. Local outings are arranged on a regular basis and most weeks we have the use of the school swimming pool for a session.

      Food and Drink

The play-scheme promotes healthy eating with snacks and drinks being provided throughout the day. The children bring their own packed lunches, which are stored in the refrigerator.
