A creative Preparatory School artist received recognition from a regional competition recently.
William Culver, a Year 1 pupil at Rydal Penrhos, recently took part in a St David’s Day painting competition, which was devised by the Bay of Colwyn Town Council ahead of the date.
The youngster was tasked with producing a painting of a Dragon to mark the prominent occasion on the Welsh calendar, and he was rewarded for his outstanding final creation with a third-place finish in the Year 1 Class category.
He received a certificate on behalf of Councillor Gemma Campbell from Prep School Head Alison Hind at Rydal Penrhos’ final Celebration Assembly before the Easter break on Friday, April 5.
Another that took part in the competition was Layko Driver, who was commended for her excellent application and innovative painting.
Mrs Hind, said: “This was a fantastic competition for our young artists to be involved in, and congratulations to Will on receiving some well-deserved recognition for his entry.
“Both Will and Layko are so enthusiastic and tackle every task with determination and a will to succeed, which has seen them develop considerably both from an academic perspective and during the wealth of co-curricular opportunities on offer here at Rydal Penrhos.”
