A Preparatory School martial artist ended a four-year journey with a prestigious grading honour.
Tristan Griffiths, a Year 6 pupil at Rydal Penrhos, recently took his Karate Black Belt assessment thanks to his sterling commitment to the programme over a prolonged period.
The 11-year-old kept his composure in front of adjudicators at the John Lynn Black Belt Martial Arts Academy in Colwyn Bay, and he impressed those in attendance considerably to secure this high-profile accolade.
Tristan received his Black Belt following the assessment and also brought it in to Rydal Penrhos’ weekly Prep School Celebration Assembly on Friday, March 29, where he received a large ovation from pupils, staff and parents that attended.
This is the latest in a long line of notable achievements from the pupil, who is thriving from an academic perspective and has also discovered an incredible musical talent on the drums.
Prep School Head Alison Hind, said: “This is a remarkable achievement and one that Tristan can rightfully be very proud of.
“He has demonstrated a tremendous amount of both discipline and dedication in order to reach his Black Belt target, and Tristan adds his name to the long list of pupils that have gone before him and achieved the same feat.
“It is a testament to his drive, talent and ability to thrive under pressure, and everyone at Rydal Penrhos is absolutely thrilled for him.”
