Tennis round-up: May 25

Head of Girls' Games Nicky Head brings you a rundown of the latest action from Rydal Penrhos' talented tennis squads, who put in a series of impressive performances against AKS Lytham to round off a successful half term and give them plenty of encouragement for the final few weeks of the academic year.

Following a delayed departure on Saturday due to technical difficulties with the coach, the girls arrived at AKS school to play in a triangular match against AKS and Lancaster Girls Grammar School.

Our late arrival meant that we only played our opposing seed against Lancaster, the U12's won 5 - 4, and the U13 and U14s both narrowly lost.

The next round of the matches against AKS, allowed more time for each of the teams to adjust to playing on the AstroTurf surface.

The U12s, U13s and U14s played well in their timed games, only losing on Deuce a lot of the time. Hannah Davies and Shruthi Ganapathi and Lily Davies and Ella James both won a match, whilst Carmen and Tasnim went on to win two of their three matches.

The U15s team, played some excellent tennis. Sydney and Alicia won 3 -0, Rebecca and Beau and Eleanor and Amanda took a win, a draw and a loss.

The overall match score 4-3 to Rydal Penrhos.
