A Preparatory School tennis hopeful defied her age to achieve a strong finish at a regional tournament.
Lucy Ranales-Griffiths, a Year 3 pupil at Rydal Penrhos, produced a number of impressive performances to come away with second place from a Conwy U10 tennis competition earlier this month.
The talented eight-year-old, who was playing against vastly more experienced opposition, demonstrated her immense promise throughout to make it through to the final at the expense of her older adversaries.
Unfortunately Lucy narrowly missed out on the overall crown after a spirited display in the final, and she was acknowledged for her fine effort at Rydal Penrhos’ weekly Celebration Assembly on Friday, June 15.
This is the latest in a long line of successes for the pupil, who has hit the headlines in a variety of areas throughout the academic year in-and-out of the classroom.
Prep School head Roger McDuff, said: “Congratulations go to Lucy on her fantastic effort, which is made even better by the fact she was competing against ten-year-olds for the majority of the competition.
“She has an enormous amount of poise and composure for someone so young, which is sure to stand her in good stead as she pursues further honours in the future.”
