A talented musician at Rydal Penrhos has been rewarded for his superb dedication with a notable grading achievement.
Harry Grocott, a Year 11 pupil at the school, recently sat his Grade 6 Piano assessment, which was administered by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, and the 15-year-old produced a fantastic performance in front of adjudicators to receive a Merit mark for his efforts.
He has now decided to skip his Grade 7 assessment and move on to Grade 8, which he plans to complete during his Sixth Form studies before moving on to University.
This is the latest in a series of notable achievements for the Middle School pupil, who was part of the Orchestra that contributed significantly to the recent Dramatic Society production of Les Misérables.
He also turned in a standout effort during the recent Intermediate Inter-House Music competition, and Harry is also thriving from an academic perspective in addition to his musical exploits.
Director of Music Pete Williams, said: “Harry is an immensely talented pianist who has grasped all areas of his study exceptionally well, so it is no surprise to see him achieve such an impressive mark in his latest grading.
“He is a very laid-back individual who not only has a great deal of natural ability, but there is also a very hard-working young man lying beneath his demeanour and Harry really is a pleasure to work with.”
