A table tennis sensation at Rydal Penrhos has been in good form for his regional side recently.
Abhishek Bathula, a Year 11 pupil at the school, turns out for Trinity A in the Llandudno and District League Division One, with the team comprised of some of the best junior players from across the Conwy area.
The 15-year-old played a significant part in their impressive 7-3 victory, which saw Bathula secure an impressive 3-1 success over Mark Bryant to secure maximum points for the second-placed side.
Despite Trinity falling to a 7-3 loss against champions Amlwch A, the pupil was once again in sensational form and kept his side in the contest by becoming the first player to beat Paul Collins, before overcoming Ian Ault after a highly competitive affair.
The Welsh international was part of the national squad that travelled to Shanghai in October, where they took part in a series of coaching sessions with some of the best and highly regarded table tennis coaches anywhere in the world.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “Abhishek is proving that age is no barrier by emerging as one of the most consistent performers in the division, and this experience will do his confidence the world of good.
“He is a very driven individual that has achieved an enormous amount in a relatively short space of time, which is testament to both his natural ability and his willingness to get better at every opportunity.”
