A large number of swimming squad members at Rydal Penrhos performed well at a competitive event recently.
The 19-strong group travelled to Merseyside to compete at the St Edward’s College, which saw them take on the Liverpool school in a gruelling 30-race competition.
There were a host of positive performances throughout the event, with the Year 7 quartet of Zac Roberts, Will Tavernor, Ruby Merrick and Ariana further demonstrating their immense promise, while Osca Clark, Emily Stubbings, Emily Thomas and Gregor Perry also impressed in the U13 category.
Tom Hughes, Emily Madden, Bella Rutherford and Cameron Shaw also caught the eye with their efforts in the U14 events, with Welsh youth international Teddy Roberts showing encouraging signs after returning to the pool following a lay-off.
Emma Hackman and Emily Madden also gave a good account of themselves in U15 category, and the senior foursome of Samiya Garrod, Mollie Smithfield, Mason Clark and Jan Lotter continued their recent good form with some superb efforts.
This was unfortunately not enough to secure victory, with St Edward’s College emerging victorious by a narrow 177-159 margin.
Head of Swimming Maciej Ruszkowski, said: “It was a very strong effort from the team, who have all been working very hard in the pool with our coaching to improve on all aspects of their technique and performance.
“Hopefully they can continue to progress as the year rolls on and I look forward to seeing the results that this will bring.”
