Talented Preparatory School swimmers are in the final stage of training ahead of a national completion this weekend.
The Rydal Penrhos squad will compete at the Urdd National Primary Swimming Gala on Saturday, January 20, which will take place in Cardiff.
Three individual qualifiers booked their place at the event, with Year 4 pupil Nathan Richards and the Year 6 duo of Matthew Johnson and Liam Farrell all reaching the showcase.
A number of Rydal Penrhos’ relay teams also secured qualification, which includes the team of Ethan Akroyd, Farrell, James Gilman, Cieran Milligan, William Rutherford and Johnson.
Also securing success were the foursome of Nathan Richards, Jorgie Lynch, Dominic Chamberlain and Jorvan Toor, in addition to the girls’ team of Ellie Knight, Lily Copeland, Agatha Favill and Martha-Rose Johnson.
Mixed relay teams will also be making the trip to South Wales this weekend, and Head of Swimming Maciej Ruszkowski has praised the group for their preparation in the lead-up to the championships.
He said: “This is going to be a fantastic experience for them all and we are hopeful of continuing our fine tradition of success in the competition.
“They have all been working extremely hard to improve their technique and get their individual and collective times down as they test their skills against the best young swimmers in the country, and everyone at Rydal Penrhos wishes them the very best of luck.”
