A number of talented mathematicians at Rydal Penrhos have taken part in the next step of a national initiative after successful qualification.
Six pupils made it through to the Pink Kangaroo Stage of the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust’s Intermediate Challenge, after scoring significantly in the first part of the competition.
Edward Patrick, Ioan Peake-Jones, Rune Jeremie, Abhishek Bathula, Vanessa Ma and Alicia Zhou all sat the additional paper on Thursday, March 15 in the hope of achieving further success.
The hopefuls have been working hard to improve their problem-solving skills in recent weeks, under the guidance of Head of Mathematics Rhian Williams and her dedicated team of staff.
Rydal Penrhos continued their rich history of achievements in the challenge this year, with no fewer than 26 gaining certificates from the event.
This included an impressive seven golds, 11, silver and eight bronze, with the school also achieving Senior Team Challenge notoriety after winning their regional heat and taking part in the national finals.
Deputy Head Tim Cashell, said: “This is yet further proof of the fantastic work being done at our Mathematics department, which is one of the shining lights in our thriving academic programme here at Rydal Penrhos.
“Hopefully the six involved can achieve even further success and on behalf of everyone at the school I wish them the very best of luck as they await the results.”
