Rydal Penrhos’ new Headmaster has urged pupils to take up four New Year’s resolutions during his first official assembly.
Simon Smith, who took up his role last week, commenced the start of term by addressing both staff and pupils on Monday, January 9.
During the speech Mr Smith encouraged pupils to learn something new, live healthily, show leadership and listen to people as part of their changes for the year, which is set to bring a number of exciting initiatives to the school.
The new commander-in-chief also spoke about revisiting targets before ending with a quote from outgoing First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama.
He said: “Many commentators believe 2016 was an awful year. Let’s not worry about 2016 let’s look forward to 2017 positively.
“Michelle Obama in her final speech as First Lady, last week, said and I have made just one change ‘don’t be afraid. Be focussed. Be determined. Be hopeful. Be empowered. Empower yourselves with a good education use that education to build a school worthy of your boundless promise. Lead by example with hope never fear’.”
Following the talk, Mr Smith addressed a host of staff members at a pair of separate sessions to discuss his vision for the school and to answer any questions they may have.
