A popular staff member has become the new chair of the Friends of Rydal Penrhos Committee for the current academic year.
Sarah James, who holds the position of secretary at the school, officially took over from Gail Lavery at FORPS’ Annual General Meeting and will now head the parent-group in the weeks and months ahead.
The daughter of former much-loved Principal Michael James is in her final year as a parent, with daughter and Prefect Ruby in the Upper Sixth Form, and Miss James has made a massive impact on Rydal Penrhos since taking up her position of employment 15 years’ ago.
She is also the school’s Weekly Activities programme co-ordinator, a prominent organiser of the annual Ski trip and has taken part in a number of half marathons to raise money for worthy causes.
We caught up with Miss James for a special Q&A following her appointment:
What attracted you to the role?
When I knew that Gail was stepping down, I thought that it was great opportunity to take on a role that was new to me and offered me a challenge.
What does Rydal Penrhos mean to you?
Rydal Penrhos means everything to me. I have watched the school grow from the merger in 1998 to now.
What do you think you can bring to the role?
I think that I can use my central position in the school to bring more attention to FORPS and get more people involved.
What things/events are you most looking forward to?
I am looking forward to the Valentine's Discos in the prep and senior school. It's always nice to do something that gives the kids some enjoyment.
