Preparatory School sailors will showcase their skills at a special competition this weekend.
Rydal Penrhos’ Prep School Regatta will take place on Saturday, May 12 and Sunday 13, and a wealth of activities have been planned to enable each pupil to get the very most out of the experience.
During the first day, those in attendance will receive specialist training on the water from the school’s dedicated coaching staff, who will go through an informal introduction into the basic techniques and offer helpful hints on how to improve their race style.
A special Race Day will be the main feature during the second part of the regatta, with plenty of prizes and bragging rights up for grabs throughout.
The sailing programme has been one of the cornerstones of the overall success of Rydal Penrhos as a thriving education establishment in recent years, which is a testament to the hard work being down by staff and pupils to take advantage of the initiative along the picturesque North Wales coastline.
This has brought with it a plethora of regional and national successes, while the Year 5 trio of Freddie MacLaverty, Keira Luke and Fflur Pierce also competed at a World Championship event.
Deputy Head Alison Hind, said: “This is another fantastic opportunity for our aspiring young sailors, which I am sure they will, as they always do, take full advantage of.
“A large number of our pupils are incredibly enthusiastic in relation to their efforts on the water, and they receive the very best coaching from Mr Todd and his team throughout the academic year that has enabled them to develop significantly.”
