Talented sailors at Rydal Penrhos have been praised as their pre-season preparations came to an end.
The school’s hopefuls took part in a special three-day training camp as they embark on the new campaign, and big things are expected from both Prep and Senior school pupils after a series of regional, national and international successes last year.
Under the stewardship of coach Max Todd and his staff, sailors worked on everything from technique to wind alignment during racing, which will stand them in good stead as they embark on their busy schedule.
There was also a chance for Year 11 pupils Ewan Luke and Zac Blomeley to try out the new WASZP boat, which flew across the Colwyn Bay waterfront at rapid speeds.
A large number of the squad will be looking to hit the ground running when they compete at the RYA Welsh Youth Championships, which are being held in Pwllheli this weekend.
Deputy Head Tim Cashell, said: “Our sailing squad all applied themselves really well during the training sessions, and with the talent we have throughout all year groups the potential for a lot of success is very high.
“This is a wonderful part of the world to live and learn, and our sailing programme has brought the very best out of our pupils in recent years thanks in no small part to the tireless work of Max and his team.”
