An aspiring young sailor received a special award after showing tremendous heart during a high-profile national competition.
Noah Roberts, a Year 4 pupil at Rydal Penrhos, took his place in a quality field at the Volvo Gill Optimist British Nationals and Open Championships, which took place over the summer.
The eight-year-old, who was competing against older and vastly more experienced opposition, demonstrated impressive commitment and determination in testing conditions throughout the competition, something which caught the eye of championship officials.
This resulted in Noah taking home the Endeavour Award as a result of his outstanding efforts, which will stand him in extremely good stead as he looks to develop his skills on the water under the guidance and support of Rydal Penrhos’ thriving sailing programme and its expert coaches.
Prep School Head Alison Hind, said: “As all that have taught him will tell you, Noah is a very enthusiastic and hard-working young man and it is no surprise to see these traits making the transition to his sailing exploits.
“Noah’s fearless approach to everything he does is a standout feature of his overall contribution to life here at Rydal Penrhos, and we are absolutely thrilled with the progression he has made both in-and-out of the classroom and long may it continue.”
