A talented sailor at Rydal Penrhos defied his age to secure a podium finish at a high-profile regional competition.
Llandudno Sailing Club welcomed a host of competitors for the annual Boucher Trophy earlier this month, which saw Year 11 pupil Eddie Farrell produced a fine performance to come away with a podium finish in his debut outing at the event.
The straight race from the Llandudno slipway to Rhos on Sea harbour mouth and back took place in ever-changing conditions for the sailors involved, which made for some tactical racing to ensure that the right decisions were made to maximise progression throughout.
The 16-year-old, who was competing in his Laser boat against vastly more experienced opposition, turned in another accomplished display on the water to pip Kevin Parvin to third spot in the final standings.
This is the latest in a series of impressive achievements from the Welsh youth international, who continues to thrive throughout all areas of Rydal Penrhos life and in particular Music, Academia and Sport.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “Eddie has achieved a significant amount in a relatively short space of time, and to see him doing so well against a high-quality field on a consistent basis at Llandudno is enormously pleasing.
“He is a fantastic young man who is thriving throughout every area of Rydal Penrhos life, which is a testament not only to his ability but the support and guidance he is receiving from out hard-working and committed staff.”
