Aspiring sailors at Rydal Penrhos will get the chance to hone their skills ahead of the new season thanks to a special event.
The school will be holding a pair of pre-season camps for Prep and Senior squad members, which will take place over the Easter break under the guidance of Sailing Head Max Todd and his dedicated team of coaches.
Senior School pupils will be taking to the sea along the picturesque North Wales coastline on Thursday, April 5 and Friday 6, where they will be given the opportunity to improve their skills and receive some expert pointers that will stand them in extremely good stead ahead of the new season.
This will be followed by the Prep School training camp on Saturday April 7 and Sunday 8, which will also provide essential coaching and support for those looking to carry on the department’s fine tradition of sporting accolades throughout the spring and summer months.
Rydal Penrhos’ Sailing department has enjoyed a phenomenal amount of regional, national and international success in recent years, and the school recently received accreditation from the Royal Yachting Association and will now become a training base for the organisation.
Sailing clerk Petrina Blomeley, said: “Maximum numbers on the courses each day will be 12 pupils. The weather and sea conditions are always taken into account to ensure the safety of our pupils however we do intend to maximise our session with as much time on the water as possible each day.
“These courses will count towards each child’s RYA qualifications; satisfactory demonstration and understanding of course components will be logged accordingly in each child’s RYA log book.
“We expect these to be popular courses and understand we may need to select pupils on a first come basis to each course depending on numbers.”
