Rugby: U12 side extend perfect season with double success

Another superb week from Rydal Penrhos’ U12 rugby side saw them extend their unbeaten run.

It has been a campaign to remember so far from the group, who picked up two more victories just days apart from each other in order to remain unbeaten.

They kicked off their double with a 14 try outing against Terra Nova School in midweek, which saw Jonathan Osbourne, George Watkins and Oliver Davies all crossing the white wash on three occasions.

Standout performer Christian Cheesley also helped himself to a brace during the dominant win, with Kosi Iwobi and Zac Hay rounding off the scoring.

This was swiftly followed up by a superb 8-2 triumph over St Edward’s College, with Iwobi turning on the style to open the day with a sensational individual try from 40 metres.

Osbourne and Watkins were in outstanding form once again, with each claiming hat-tricks and Will Tavernor also got in on the act to make it seven-from-seven.

Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “It has been a truly exceptional season so far from our Year 7 pupils, who have made a seamless transition to Senior School rugby and they can be immensely proud of their efforts.

“They are a close knit group which has stemmed from their time together at the Prep School, but they have also been extremely welcoming to new arrivals to the school which has also been a catalyst behind their success.”
