Preparatory School rugby stars continued their impressive campaign with two more outstanding performances.
Rydal Penrhos’ U11 and U10 sides travelled to The Ryleys for a pair of competitive fixtures prior to the Easter break, with both sides looking to extend their exceptional run of form that saw them retain the Cooper Cup for the fifth consecutive year.
The U11 squad began their contest on the front foot and went into the half-time break with a slender 4-3 advantage, and the Rydal Penrhos contingent were unfortunate to have two scores from Gabe Donohue and skipper Cieran Milligan disallowed by the referee after the break.
Despite this setback, the visitors held firm in the closing stages and produced some free-flowing rugby to ensure they secured a share of the spoils after a thrilling 7-7 draw.
This was followed by another exceptional display from the U10 squad, who displayed their customary determination to emerge with a superb 6-3 victory on the road.
There were a host of impressive contributions from the squad, with Cameron Pye taking home the Man of the Match award as a result of his outstanding performance.
Head of Boys’ Games Jamie McLeod, said: “This was another very encouraging set of fixtures for our U11 and U10 squads, who have been superb all season and have all developed their skills both individually and as a cohesive unit.
“This is going to stand them in enormously good stead in terms of their efforts on the rugby field and their overall progression, and I would like to thank each of them for their commitment during what has been a demanding but rewarding campaign.”
