Rydal Penrhos will host a high-profile youth rugby side on a special tour of North Wales and the North West.
The school will welcome Connaught U17s in April, where they will use the state-of-the-art facilities at the site as they prepare for fixtures against Sale Sharks and Cheshire.
The U17 Provincial side are selected from all the schools and clubs across Connacht in Ireland, and the tour is an important preparation ahead of their interprovincial series where they will play Ulster, Munster, Leinster and the Irish Exiles in September.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd has strong ties with the club having been part of the set-up for three years, and praised a programme that he stated is going “from strength-to-strength”.
They will arrive at Rydal Penrhos on Tuesday, April 18 and will hold a double training session the following day ahead of their trip to Sale on April 20.
This will be followed by a mixture of recovery and team activities, before they conclude their tour on April 22 with their fixture against Cheshire at the school’s New Field ground (2pm).
Mr Boyd added: “Connacht rugby is a fantastic set up, one which I was fortunate enough to be part of for 3 years and they are really going from strength to strength.
“The Cheshire fixture ties in nicely too as I coached them for several years before I moved to the South West.
"When Sale heard they were coming over they were very keen for the fixture too so it should be a good few days for them and we are looking forward to hosting them here at Rydal Penrhos.”
