A talented rugby player at Rydal Penrhos helped his regional youth side secure an impressive competition victory.
Osca Clark, a Year 9 pupil at the school, was part of the Rhyl and District Rugby Club’s U14 squad that took on COBRA RGC North East boys’ Bowl final on Sunday, March 24.
The showcase produced some fantastic attacking rugby from both sides, with plenty of eye-catching tries leaving the score extremely close heading into the closing stages.
In a dramatic finish to the contest, the young Rhyl and District squad dug deep in the closing stages to eventually emerge victorious by the narrowest of margins, achieving a thrilling 35-34 triumph.
This is the first trophy that any Dragons’ team across all ages have achieved since their high-profile move to their impressive new facility at Ty Newydd Fields.
Ocsa has enjoyed a tremendous amount of success as part of Rydal Penrhos sports scholarship programme, and he was recently part of the school’s U14 Boys’ Hockey side that were crowned North Wales Champions and earned qualification to the national finals later this year.
He also secured some outstanding swimming achievements at regional and national level throughout his time at the school.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “Osca has developed considerably in a sporting environment and he is thoroughly deserving of all the accolades that come his way.
“He is a very hard-working individual who has a fantastic ability to motivate others in a competitive environment.”
