A talented rugby star at Rydal Penrhos gave another good account of himself for a regional squad recently.
Josh Lynch, a Year 9 pupil at the school, was part of the RGC West U15 side that put in a good performance against Llanelli Schools last week.
The sports scholar came off the bench and made a significant impact for the young Gogs, who eventually fell to a narrow 17-14 loss after a spirited effort which further highlighted their potential as a group.
Fellow pupils Sam Bixby and Finlay Hare, who have also represented the squad this season, were unavailable for selection due to their involvement with Rydal Penrhos U16 side at the Rosslyn Park 7s tournament.
In addition to his work with RGC West, Josh is also a member of the Sale Sharks Player Development programme and is aiming for qualification to the European Weightlifting Championships later this year after claiming a host of Welsh records in his short career to date.
He has progressed a significant amount under the guidance of dedicated staff at Rydal Penrhos, while also training with Commonwealth Games athlete Harry Misangyi away from school.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “This was another great experience for Josh with RGC West, who continue to show their enormous promise with a highly accomplished display despite their defeat.
“He is very ambitious and has a great attitude in terms of wanting to improve and develop, and this is going to be a huge asset for him as Josh goes in search of more accolades in the future.”
