A talented rugby star at Rydal Penrhos has earned a regional squad selection for a prestigious fixture this week.
Josh Lynch, a Year 9 pupil at the school, will be part of the RGC West U15 squad that take on Llanelli Schools on Tuesday, March 20.
The 14-year-old has been named among the replacements for the clash, which will take place at the home of WRU National League Division One West side Aberystwyth.
This is the latest in a series of regional selections for the sports scholar, who captained the young Gogs at the age of 13 earlier this season and developed his game considerably under the guidance of Rydal Penrhos’ dedicated coaching staff and the specialist strength and conditioning team at the school.
He is also part of the Sale Sharks Player Development programme, and is also aiming for qualification to the European Weightlifting Championships later this year after claiming a host of Welsh records in his short career to date.
Other squad members Finlay Hare and Sam Bixby were unavailable for selection due to their involvement with Rydal Penrhos’ U16 side at the Rosslyn Park 7s.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “Josh is a dedicated individual who has the potential to go to great things, and his involvement with RGC West is another fantastic learning curve for him in terms of his overall development.
“As a sports scholar, we endeavour to ensure that his goals and ambitions are met here at Rydal Penrhos, and if recent indications are anything to by then Josh’s future is very bright.”
