A talented rugby hopeful at Rydal Penrhos has been named in the RGC U16 squad for a prominent fixture this weekend.
Jack Jones, a Year 11 pupil at the school, will start at flanker for the Gogs in their International Series encounter with Scotland Reds at Parc Eirias on Saturday (7pm).
The 15-year-old has enjoyed a standout season for the school and was a key contributor to the side that secured the Chester Cup.
Having re-joined the North Wales development region squad last year, Jones will now look to impose himself further after making a number of appearances in their WRU Age Grade competition clashes against the likes of Scarlets and Cardiff Blues.
Following this game, RGC will test their skills against Scotland Blues on Tuesday, April 11 (12.30pm).
RGC player-coach and North Wales Performance Manager Josh Leach, who is a former pupil at Rydal Penrhos, said: “U16s is an important age group in identifying players who have potential to progress through the performance pathway.
“This is the first opportunity for them to be pitted against international level opposition. It is an exciting challenge and the team have trained hard all year playing regional level competition and now they will get their just rewards being involved in this exciting event.”
