Two Rugby Academy stars at Rydal Penrhos have been selected to the RGC U18 squad for a high-profile fixture this weekend.

Henry Maitland-Davies and Tomos Davies, Upper and Lower Sixth Form pupils at the school, will be part of the young Gogs’ squad that take on Blues North at Pontypridd Rugby Club on Sunday, February 4 (2.30pm).

The duo will be aiming to help their side to a third victory in succession after an immensely improved effort from the squad in their last two Regional Age Grade outings.

This has seen them secure a tremendous 17-0 victory over Dragons Academy to kick-off their good run, where a try from Maitland-Davies was enough to separate the sides after a hard-fought encounter.

They followed this up with a convincing 25-15 victory over Cardiff Blues, which saw another sensational all-round performance from the ambitious group.

Rydal Penrhos’ Rugby Academy is run in partnership with RGC and the Welsh Rugby Union and has produced a plethora of senior squad members for Mark Jones’ side in recent years.

Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “The RGC U18 side has been in fantastic form in recent weeks, which has coincided with more training time together that has aided their cohesion considerably.

“Henry and Tomos have been a massive part of this success and we wish both of them and the entire RGC squad the very best of luck this weekend.”
