Two rugby academy stars at Rydal Penrhos were part of the RGC U18 side that achieved a notable victory.
Henry Maitland-Davies and Tomos Davies, Upper and Lower Sixth Form pupils at the school, contributed to the young Gogs’ 17-10 success over Dragons Academy on Sunday, January 21 at Stadiwm Zip World.
The home side produced a rousing second half display which was the catalyst behind their triumph, with the introduction of Maitland-Davies and Davies after the break providing the squad with a new lease of life in their Regional Age Grade clash.
Maitland-Davies, who is a product of Denbigh Rugby Club and has been involved with the RGC senior set-up this season, once again showed his enormous promise with a crucial try after powering over from close range after a dominant spell of pressure.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “This was a highly impressive performance from RGC and congratulations go to Henry and Tomos for their contribution towards their success.
“To defeat an accomplished side such as Dragons just shows how much they have developed as a group in a relatively short space of time, and hopefully this will stand them in good stead as they look to build on this fantastic result.
“We are very proud to have had great success with our Rugby Academy partnership with RGC, which has produced Welsh internationals and a host of current senior squad players.”
