A young rugby star helped his regional side to an impressive competition win recently.
Freddie James, a Year 7 pupil at Rydal Penrhos, was part of the Bangor U12 squad that secured a North Wales Youth Plate victory over Bethesda on Saturday, May 5.
The 11-year-old put in a highly accomplished display and contributed significantly to the side’s triumph, which is the culmination of a fantastic campaign for the talented group.
It has been an extremely successful first year at Rydal Penrhos’ senior site for Freddie, who has developed his game considerably over the course of the year thanks to the commitment he has shown with the school's dedicated coaching and strength and conditioning staff.
He has also contributed to a variety of different co-curricular activities such as the Junior Drama Club, and also achieved a notable accolade at the prestigious Chester Festival earlier this year.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “Freddie is a fantastic young character who has a tremendous desire to get better at everything he does, and this reflected in the enormous progression he has made throughout the academic year.
“To become regional plate winners is a tremendous achievement and hopefully it will be just the start of things to come for Freddie in the coming years.”
