A pair of Preparatory School rugby sides continued their excellent recent form with notable victories.
Rydal Penrhos’ U11 and U9 teams welcomed Abbey Gate College for two very competitive fixtures on Friday, January 25, which both went the way of the home team thanks to some outstanding individual and collective efforts.
The U11 group went behind to a try early on, before they regrouped superbly to come away with an eye-catching 7-2 triumph.
There was a host of pupils that emerged from the game with a great deal of credit, with the contribution of Tristan Griffiths earning him the Player of the Match Award.
This was followed by a superb overall performance from the U9 side, who secured a 20-10 win thanks in no small part to their improved passing in key areas of the field.
Head of Boys’ Games Jamie McLeod, said: “We are getting ever closer to the Cooper Cup, and it is great to see our young rugby players in such brilliant form ahead of what promises to be another superb showcase of local talent.
“They are improving all the time thanks to the expert coaching they receive here at Rydal Penrhos, and it is also very encouraging to see them motivating each other and communicating well in a competitive environment.”
