Preparatory School rugby stars have started the season in scintillating fashion with two notable victories this week.
Rydal Penrhos’ U11 and U8 side travelled to Liverpool College and Packwood Haugh for a pair of testing fixtures ahead of what promises to be another campaign full of highlights.
The U11 squad made an instant impression despite a late arrival to Merseyside for the fixture, with their completely dominant first half showing saw them rack up a number of tries to give the Prep School team a commanding 42-0 lead at the interval.
After the break saw more of the same from the talented squad, who displayed some exceptional teamwork under the leadership of Cieran Milligan to cross the white wash on a consistent basis throughout the second period to give them an eye-catching 91-0 victory as a result of their efforts.
There was further cause for celebration from a Rydal Penrhos perspective in the form of the U8 side, who began their game well and dotted over five times in the first half, before holding off a late rally from the hosts to eventually triumph 10-7 against Packwood.
Head of Boys’ Games Jamie McLeod, said: “This was a very encouraging start to the season and both squads really demonstrated some fantastic rugby on both sides of the ball throughout their respective contests.
“This is going to stand them in extremely good stead as they look to make some more strides during a busy series of fixtures following the Christmas break, and I am excited to see how they develop in the weeks and months ahead.”
