Rugby: Cieran helps North East Wales Schools U11 squad secure Llanelli triumph

A Preparatory School rugby star played a starring role for a regional side in a recent fixture.

Cieran Milligan, a Year 6 pupil at Rydal Penrhos, was part of the North East Wales Primary Schools’ U11 squad that took on Llanelli Schools at the home of Welshpool Rugby Club.

The talented back was at the top of his game throughout the contest and was rewarded for his exceptional display with two tries in their outstanding victory over their southern rivals.

This is the latest in a series of eye-catching milestones from Cieran’s perspective, who has developed his game considerably under the guidance of Rydal Penrhos’ dedicated coaching staff and outside of school hours at Colwyn Bay Rugby Club.

He was appointed Prep School captain by Head of Boys’ Games Jamie McLeod at the start of the campaign and guided Rydal Penrhos to a fifth consecutive Cooper Cup victory during an enormously encouraging campaign across all age groups.

Cieran has also taken part in extra training sessions with the North East Wales squad in the lead-up to the fixture, which saw them progress to the next stage of the competition in the coming weeks.

Mr McLeod, said: “Cieran has proven his talent and ability to shine on the big stage time and time again, and he has a big future in the game if he continues to show the same amount of application to improvement.

“He not only possesses an enormous amount of natural ability, but his knowledge of all things rugby has improved considerably and he is emerging as a real leader on the field which has further enhanced his overall influence.”
