A host of Rydal Penrhos’ rugby sevens stars will be testing their skills at a high-profile tournament this week.
The school’s U18, U16 and U13 sides will be making the long trip to Stonyhurst College for their Rugby 7s Festival on Wednesday, March 20, which will see each squad take part in a group stage before determining which trophy they will be challenging for throughout the remainder of the competition.
The U18 side will be aiming to carry on their strong form so far this season, and they boast plenty of experience and talent thanks to the inclusion of Joe Gardener, Will Lynch, Fin Hare, Joe Morrow and Sean Hughes.
Rydal Penrhos’ U16 squad will be looking for big performances from Sam Bixby, Theo Bryant, Josh Doyle, George Smith-Edwards and Tom Hughes during what is expected to be a hotly contested section of the tournament, and the U13 squad will be led by skipper Will Tavernor.
George Watkins, Jonathan Osbourne, Zac Roberts and Kosi Iwobi are others to keep an eye on, and the Year 7 duo of Gabriel Speakman, Ethan Akroyd and Max Cowen-Wright will be looking to make an impact against older and more experienced opposition.
