Pupil Profiles: Reuben Bather

In the lead-up to our Open Morning events in April, we will be taking a look at the pupils that make Rydal Penrhos such a fantastic place to live and learn.

The latest Senior School pupil under the spotlight is Reuben Bather:

  • Name: Reuben Bather
  • Year group: Year 11
  • Pupil status: Day
  • House: Wesley

Although he has been a member of the Rydal Penrhos community for a relatively short space of time, Reuben has quickly emerged as a prime example of what can be achieved when joining the school.

Since enrolling in 2016, Reuben is another that has benefitted enormously from the wealth of opportunities afforded to him and each pupil at Rydal Penrhos, something which has brought with it significant academic and sporting progress.

The 14-year-old’s main talent lies on the golf course, and he has played a huge part in the rise to prominence of the Rydal Penrhos Academy which has thrived thanks to its partnership with North Wales Golf Club in Llandudno and the work being done by programme co-ordinator Ian Richardson.

He is a Welsh international at U15 and U16 level, and boasts a handicap of 1.5 despite his tender age.

Reuben has also been aided in terms of his overall development by the specialist strength and conditioning schedule he participates in on a weekly basis, which has seen him add yards to his game and become better able to cope with the rigours of a gruelling aspect of tournament play.

All this will undoubtedly stand him in very good stead in the years to come, as he looks to get his handicap down to scratch and add to the wealth of regional and national accolades in the future.

Reuben is also showing an enormous amount of potential throughout his academic subjects under the care of Rydal Penrhos’ dedicated teaching staff, and he is also a keen participator in Inter-House competitions as part of the current Yeung Bowl Cup holders Wesley.

Rydal Penrhos will be holding Senior and Prep Open Morning events on Friday, April 26 and Saturday 27 from 9.30am, and to book your place contact Admissions Officer Jenny Marsden on 01492 530155 or email admissions@rydalpenrhos.com.
