In the lead-up to our Open Morning events in April, we will be taking a look at the pupils that make Rydal Penrhos such a fantastic place to live and learn.
The first Prep School pupil under the spotlight is Martha-Rose Johnson.
- Name: Martha-Rose Johnson
- Year group: Year 4
- Pupil status: Prep
- House: Snowdon
Since enrolling at Rydal Penrhos Prep School a year ago, there is not much that Martha-Rose has not tried or succeeded at.
The seven-year-old has thrived in a wide number of areas, including being part of a Stage Coach group that performed a polished 1980’s and 90’s production in Staffordshire, where she stole the show with solo renditions of the smash hits Puppy Love and Dancing Queen.
Her fundraising efforts have also been praised, with Martha-Rose joining a large number of other female fundraisers at the Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life, which was held in Stoke-on-Trent.
She completed the five-kilometre course in impressive fashion, taking just 51 minutes to cross the line.
Martha-Rose has also proved to be a dab hand in the kitchen by winning the Year 2 category in the Great Rydal Penrhos #BakingMad Bake-Off during the last academic year, while her efforts with the Prep School’s thriving Eco Committee have also been extremely beneficial.
Her academic achievements have also been vast thanks to the ongoing Spelling Challenge, and she was also part of the swim squad that performed well at the Urdd National Gala after qualifying from the regional heats in fine style.
Prep School Head Alison Hind, said: “It was clear very early on that Martha-Rose was going to be a pleasure to have here at Rydal Penrhos, and the amount she has achieved in such a short space of time further demonstrates this.
“She is a very driven pupil for someone so young and is clearly very talented in a number of academic and co-curricular areas, which ensures that future is going to be very bright for Martha-Rose in the coming years.”
Rydal Penrhos will be holding Senior and Prep Open Morning events on Friday, April 26 and Saturday 27 from 9.30am, and to book your place contact Admissions Officer Jenny Marsden on 01492 530155 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
